The clothing labels AKADEMIKS, AVIREX, CONVERSE, ECKO, ECKO RED, EVISU, G UNIT, HEAD, LE COQ SPORTIF Inc, LRG, MECCA, ROCAWEAR, BURBERRY, TIMBERLAND and SEAN JOHN have launched a major joint anti-counterfeit operation in the United Kingdom and have retained the services of security consultants and specialist Intellectual Property Rights investigators, Surelock International Ltd.

Over the past year extensive intelligence has been gathered identifying manufacturers, importers,
wholesalers, retailers and market places that are blatantly selling counterfeits of these labels and accessories. Surelock has worked together with HM Customs and Excise and Trading Standard Services in Central and East End of London, Bedford, Birmingham, Liverpool, Oldham, Merthyr Tydfil, Peterborough, Wolverhampton, Wembley, Essex, and Hampshire and have taken action / raided numerous wholesalers, retailers and markets, seizing many thousands of counterfeit garments.

The Customs authorities have also seized thousands of counterfeit garments at various ports of entry into the United Kingdom. Factories have been identified in Korea and China, and the authorities there have been consulted and already action has been taken in Korea. Surelock are also working together with such web sites as eBay to stop counterfeit goods being sold there.

The labels concerned are determined to continue with such actions in the coming year and in addition will be taking independent legal action against the worst offenders. They will also be taking legal action against wholesalers who are selling unauthorised garments imported to the United Kingdom from the USA.
